Cutting & milling of EPS
Polystyrene (EPS) block can be shaped with 2 different production processes.
Cutting of Polystyrene (EPS) is done by means of a cutting station equipped with an oscillating air cooled cutting wire. A cutting line for blocks has several stations to shape the block into the end product. The EPS block is loaded en turned on a feeding conveyor to the cutting line which consist of several stations:
1. Speed regulated feeding conveyor
2. Horizontal cutting wire for top an bottom trimming
3. Horizontal cutting wire to shape the product
4. Side cutting unit for side trimming
5. Vertical cutting unit to shape the product
6. Conveyors between the unit to transport the product
7. Staking end unloading unit to handle the products
Milling and sawing of Polystyrene (EPS) is used to cut the EPS product into its shape if the required shape can not be execute by means of a wire. Like slotted groves, holes and channels in the product.
Milling of groves in a Polystyrene block is executed in a cutting line by means of a carrousel machine. The 2 vertical carrousels are equipped with 4 different milling shafts, and can rotate in 4 positions. After the selected milling profile has been chosen, the carrousel rotates automatically in position. Via a mechanical slot system, both milling carrousels are locked into the chosen position. The milling shafts are driven by a 7,5kW electrical motor. De-dusting hoods which cover each milling shaft can be attached to a central dust filter. The machine is controlled by a PLC and a touch screen.
